La forma de solucionar el problema se encuentra en este hilo del foro de VMWare donde basta con descargar el archivo vmnet.rar y copiarlo al directorio /usr/lib/vmware/modules/source (si es que ahi se realizao la instalacion del VMWare) y simplemente ejecutar nuevamente ejecutar el programa vmware-config.pl, y listo, el modulo se compila y es posible ejecutar nuestra maquina virtual con soporte para red.
